Meet Jesse
As the founder and manager, Jesse Crampton established Croc Country Australia in 2013 to assist farmers and Indigenous communities in safely removing problem crocodiles (under permit) throughout the Northern Territory. Croc Country Australia has successfully completed numerous crocodile management projects in both captive and wild environments. Jesse’s dedication extends beyond fieldwork; he actively mentors Indigenous communities and ranger groups, instilling safe work practices essential for navigating croc country.
With over 12 years of experience working with saltwater crocodiles in diverse settings, Jesse’s expertise has become well-recognized. His work spans advising on participating in media projects, collaborating with scientists and veterinarians with field research, and conducting population surveys and habitat monitoring. For ten years, Jesse served as Senior Croc Keeper and caretaker at a highly recognised wildlife park, where he specialised in all aspects of crocodile management. He has overseen egg harvesting (under permit) and offered strategic contracting services to station owners and Indigenous communities, enabling them to address and mitigate the risks posed by problematic crocodiles.
Jesse’s role extends to delivering on-country training programs tailored for Indigenous ranger groups. These programs emphasize key skills in crocodile behavior analysis, monitoring programs, and population surveying, ensuring these groups are equipped with the essential knowledge for effective and safe croc management.
Today, Jesse resides onsite at his crocodile facility and cattle farm in Far North Queensland with his wife, Shannon, and their son, Dusty. Jesse embodies a lifelong dedication to wildlife and the principles of responsible crocodile management. This unique family lifestyle underscores his commitment to fostering a deep understanding of these incredible creatures and sharing that knowledge with others
